CSIO’s Latest eLearning Course Provides Social Media Strategy Guidance for Brokers

June 04, 2020 |

“2020 is a year of unprecedented change. In a year where we experienced less face-to-face communication, it’s obvious how important social media is in making connections with our customers and prospects.”  -Naheed Somji, Senior Social Media Specialist, Economical Insurance

Never has it been more important to connect digitally with your customers. The latest course in the CSIO Digital Broker eLearning Program aims to show brokers how they can do so by not by doing social media, but by being social.

The What’s New in Social Media Strategy: Current Landscape and Future Trends course is taught by Naheed Somji, Senior Social Media Specialist with Economical Insurance, and Professor of Social Media at Conestoga College, who looks at how brokers are using social media, and how they can leverage the unique benefits of each platform to their advantage. This is an ideal course for anyone who wants to expand their social media reach, and connect with customers who they can’t see face-to-face.

He provides an overview of the Economical Pulse Survey, which helped Canadian insurance professionals benchmark their social media usage, business objectives, and challenges against their competitors. The course also looks at recent changes to the most popular social media channels, and some of the best ways to engage with customers. One of the key topics he covers is using video to tell your story, and he shares some excellent tips for those who are nervous about getting started. When it comes to using social media as a platform for content and conversation, Naheed explains, “The connections that you make are absolutely valuable, but only when they are authentic and relevant.”

CSIO continues to support our members during this challenging time with the release of additional courses in its Digital Broker eLearning Program. Available online and on-demand to accommodate busy schedules, the program offers a number of free, interactive one-hour courses that help insurance professionals expand their knowledge of insurance technology and stay up-to-date on digital trends.

In addition to the course on social media strategy, CSIO has also recently released courses on Digital Disruption, Insurance Technology Essentials and My Proof of Insurance. These courses are accredited in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario.

The program supports CSIO’s mission to increase the adoption of technology in the broker channel.
