(Toronto – August 21, 2024) Cybercrime is on the rise and a major concern for Canadian businesses. CSIO has responded to the need to provide an industry-leading cyber learning program by launching the Cybersecurity Education Program.

This comprehensive, fully online program is designed to keep Property & Casualty (P&C) employees up-to-date with the rapidly evolving cyber landscape. It will equip members with the skills to assess the current business environment, and to apply cybersecurity best practices. Offered free to CSIO members, the program includes 13 interactive modules, with just a 2.5-hour commitment, participants will boost their confidence in identifying and preventing cyber threats while earning 2.5 Continuing Education (CE) hours.

According to the Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity, over $500 million was reported stolen due to cybercrime in 2022, and unreported cybercrimes would increase that figure even more. In an evolving cyber landscape, a culture of security awareness and education is the best defence against potential threats, and CSIO’s Cybersecurity Education Program provides a much-needed educational foundation.

The program offers complete flexibility, allowing participants to pause and resume modules at their convenience. It enhances their education by providing tools to assess their current security landscape and stay alert to existing and potential threats. Upon finishing the program, participants will receive a Certificate and a logo to showcase their achievement on social media.

“The severity of cyber-attacks on businesses big and small highlights the importance of knowing how to identify phishing scams and other threats,” said Sarah Van Allen, Owner of Van Allen Insurance Inc. “CSIO’s Cybersecurity Education Program is user-friendly, engaging, and most importantly, helps our brokerage continue to be vigilant when faced with potential cyber-attacks.”
