Four Insurers Successfully Eliminate Z-Codes and Achieve CSIO’s Compliance Certification
|
(Toronto – December 9, 2025) CSIO congratulates the following insurers on achieving Compliance Certification by eliminating all non-standard coverage codes (Z-Codes) from their data exchange services: APRIL Canada and APRIL Marine, Echelon Insurance, Lambton Mutual Insurance Company and Nova Mutual Insurance Company.
By earning Compliance Certification, these insurers have demonstrated that they exclusively use CSIO Standards when sending coverage codes to Broker Management Systems (BMS). Standardized codes are easily recognized in a BMS, allowing brokers to identify a policy’s coverage without needing to log into insurer portals or renaming codes. As a result, they benefit from more accurate reports, targeted marketing, and a seamless customer experience.
“I am pleased to congratulate these insurers on achieving Compliance Certification, an accomplishment that reflects their commitment to Data Standards and connectivity,” said Kathryn Sinclair, President & CEO of CSIO. “By leveraging CSIO Standard codes, insurers and brokers can expect more consistent data exchange and greater efficiency. Additionally, Standard codes enable brokers to interpret policy information with confidence and support them in delivering the best insurance solutions to their customers.”
CSIO works with insurers every step of the way to eliminate Z-Codes and obtain Compliance Certification. Our Standards Maintenance Request (MR) process allows insurers to request a new Standard code, eliminating the need to create new Z-Codes. MRs are then reviewed by CSIO’s National Standards Working Group, which meets regularly to evolve Data Standards and stay current with business needs. In 2025, CSIO helped insurers remove approximately 1,200 Z-Codes from their data exchange services, marking a significant advancement in Standards adoption.
