Canada Post Mediation Process Ends

DECEMBER 14 UPDATE : On Monday, December 17, 2018 the mediation process under the back to work legislation ended. The mediator has issued her order regarding the arbitration process. The arbitration will start in January.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) filed a constitutional challenge with the Ontario Superior Court after being legislated back to work by the federal government at the end of November. The legislation means the rotating strikes that have been impacting the insurance industry since October 22 ended on November 27. The strike caused widespread disruption to businesses and consumers, including the insurance industry and its insureds.

Brokers were able to protect their consumers from this type of disruption by signing up for CSIO’s My Proof of Insurance eDelivery solution. This solution allows brokers to send digital policy documents and auto liability cards which can be stored on the insured’s mobile device.

My Proof of Insurance is available to CSIO members at no additional cost, featuring a fast setup process and integrations with many BMS vendors.
